Biology seniors Sophie Baggett and Thomas Gatewood each received Fulbright Awards this year from the Fulbright U.S. Student Program, which gives college students and recent graduates the opportunity to travel the world and participate in advanced research and culturally immersive experiences.
Sophie will be doing research at the Chile Science Initiative Award, working with two laboratories at the Universidad de la Frontera in Temuco, Chile to build on their current research of Heliobacter pylori (H. pylori) in the La Araucanía region.
Thomas will be doing an English Teaching Assistantship in Logroño, the capital city of Spain’s smallest autonomous community, La Rioja.
